The
hostel has a rich history, the building was
the 'Hôtel de la Baie de gaspé",

Originally,
Gespeg signified in Amerindian language "where mountains
meet with the sea".
The
hostel is located at the southern headland
of the Gaspé Peninsula, in the village
of Cap-Aux-Os, within sight of the Forillon
national park.
In
1623, missionary Gabriel Sagard who was visiting
Gaspé, related that the continuous roar
of the whales and the noise from their blowholes
troubled their sleep. Numerous bones from these
mammals found on the beach inspired them the
toponym Cap-Aux-Os (Cape of Bones).
